My
wedding dress! I only have the one at the moment but I love dressing
as a bride (the most romantic day of a girl’s life??) and
I have designed a second. Now I am saving up to have it made. It
will be very different to this one; strapless with a straight skirt
and HUGE train!
I bought the dress in the photos from an American site on the internet;
www.egowns.biz. Their prices are so much more affordable. I ordered
it in a size that I knew would be too big and then had it altered
after it arrived here. Even after paying duty and with the cost
of alteration, it was still only a fraction of the cost of buying
a similar dress in England.
Made from a good quality duchesse satin, it is finished with touches
of lace and decorated on the bodice and the hem of the skirt with
hundreds of small seed pearls and sparklies. It is long sleeved
with a plunging neckline at the front, and a fitted bodice falling
into a full skirt with a generous train. The dress came with multiple
underskirts that give the shape to the skirt. At the back, it does
up with a zip to just above the waist and then has a rather attractive
“keyhole”. At the neck, it is closed with a huge number
of pearl buttons that you have to push through tiny elastic thread
loops. This presents a problem: it is impossible to do up the buttons
oneself so you need help. But then, who does not have help on their
wedding day?
As you can see, I had to have the full bridal look and so I also
bought a three-layer veil and pearl and crystal tiara, both from
ebay.
